The Turning - Autumn Edition

There is a moment in Autumn when the seasons seem to overlap. The afternoons are still warm, the apples are ready for picking, and the garden is beginning to look a little untidy around the edges.

It's my favourite time of year, and exactly what I wanted to capture in our Autumn edition of The Turning.

September Fields is hand poured into a matt forest-green ceramic vessel, using our blend of rapeseed and coconut wax and a fragrance I've created entirely from pure essential oils.

It opens with the bright, almost golden citrus of May Chang, softened by aromatic coriander seed and clary sage. As the candle burns, the warmth of benzoin comes through, alongside Atlas cedarwood, earthy patchouli and a little black pepper.

The result is something rather difficult to put into a conventional fragrance category. It's warm without being sweet, fresh without being floral, and earthy without being heavy.

It reminds me of the first proper days of autumn. Apples gathered from the garden, the smell of cut stems and drying leaves, and that wonderful late-afternoon sunshine that makes everything look a little more golden than it really is.

Not quite summer anymore.

Not quite the autumn of woolly jumpers and lighting the fire.

Just those beautiful few weeks in between.

Like every edition of The Turning, September Fields is made only once. The essential oil blend is created specifically for this season, and when this edition is gone, we won't make it again.
